Here are a few things to get you started...

Before we start our journey in AP World History, it is important to establish the basics!

After reading through the above slides, follow everything you see below in order. This will walk you through what is expected of you this summer.

Here, you will learn how to take Cornell Notes, complete some readings, and answer some questions!

**Starting a notebook and binder will be done in class, so make sure to save all of the work you do**

Supplies You Will Need for Class

The following are recommended supplies you will need for the class:

5 Subject Notebook

3 Ring Binder (1 1/2-2 inches)

Pencils, multi-colored pens and highlighters

Dividers for your Binder or sticky tabs

Index Cards

Here you will find information and a video on how to take Cornell Notes. Be sure to do this step first, as you will use these notes going forward.

In this second step, you will find the links for 3 slide presentations. As you read through each set, be sure to take Cornell Style notes. When school starts, we will assemble our binders and you will keep these there... so don't lose them!

In this third step, you will find your first BIG reading! Take your time as you read through this shortened version of Jared Diamond's Guns Germs and Steel. As you go, be sure that you are using your new note-taking skills. By the end of the article, you should have great notes over this important reading.

In your last step, you will have one more article to read. This article is called Southernization by Lynda Shaffer. Please take Cornell style notes over this article, and be sure to answer the questions that can be found at the end of the reading. These can be answered on a separate sheet of paper.
